4. Beauty products, devices and your skin

Beauty devices and skincare products carry risks if used incorrectly. Heat tools can burn hair and skin. Exfoliating acids and retinoids can irritate. Light and radio-frequency devices are not suitable for everyone, and some are not safe during pregnancy or while taking photosensitising medication.

Always patch test a new product, follow the manufacturer's instructions, and stop using anything that causes a reaction. If a concern persists or worsens, see a doctor or dermatologist.
